1. Copyright notice
Copyright 2026. Gipsy Moth IV Ltd. All rights reserved, except as expressly permitted below or by law. Gipsy Moth IV Ltd is the trading abbreviation used here for Gipsy Moth IV Limited, company number 14359855, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 62 Stakes Road, Waterlooville, Hampshire, England, PO7 5NT. Correspondence: 62 Stakes Road, Purbrook, Waterlooville, Hampshire, United Kingdom, PO7 5NT.
2. What this notice covers
Subject to third-party rights and individual credits, this notice covers copyright and related rights owned by or licensed to Gipsy Moth IV Ltd in original website text, editorial selection and arrangement, photographs, illustrations, graphics, audio, video, original software, designs, downloadable resources and 3D assets. Database rights may also protect qualifying collections. Protection exists only where the legal requirements are met. The year in the notice does not establish authorship, renew an expired copyright or change a work’s statutory protection period.
3. Third-party and historical material
Ownership of the yacht, a physical photograph, painting, manuscript or other object does not itself confer copyright in that work. Archive owners, photographers, artists, authors, contributors, institutions and software licensors may retain their own rights. Credits, rights statements and item-specific licences take precedence for those items. Material from National Historic Ships, other registers and external archives is not claimed as our exclusive property merely because it appears in a catalogue. Unknown ownership or an absent credit is not permission to copy.
4. Limited permission for ordinary use
For material whose rights we control, you may view and access the site, make the temporary technical copies needed for lawful browsing, and print or save reasonable extracts for personal, non-commercial reference. Keep author credits, copyright notices and source references; do not misrepresent the material or imply endorsement. This permission does not cover third-party material unless its own licence allows it, or redistribution of complete collections, high-resolution production files, source models or commercial products. An expressly offered download may carry more specific terms.
5. Reuse requiring permission
Unless an applicable licence or legal exception permits it, obtain prior written permission before republishing, distributing, adapting, translating, broadcasting, selling, commercially exploiting or incorporating protected material into another product or service. This includes commercial prints, merchandise, advertising, films, publications, apps and reproduction of protected 3D models. A licence must identify the work, intended use, format, territory, duration, attribution and any fee. Silence or failure to respond is not consent.
6. Statutory exceptions and public-domain material
Nothing in this notice restricts uses permitted by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 or other applicable law, including relevant fair-dealing, quotation, criticism, review, research, teaching, accessibility and other statutory exceptions where their conditions are met. A non-commercial or educational purpose alone does not automatically make every use lawful. We do not claim exclusive rights in historical facts, ideas, unprotected information or underlying works in the public domain. Separate rights may exist in original annotations, photographs, editions or arrangements, but only where recognised by law.
7. Open licences and software
Where an item is supplied under Creative Commons, an open-source licence or another express licence, that licence governs the relevant use and this general notice does not narrow it. Preserve required attribution, licence texts and other notices. Third-party viewer software, libraries and components retain their own licences. This copyright notice does not convert those components into proprietary Gipsy Moth IV software or grant rights beyond those the applicable licence provides.
8. Databases, automated extraction and AI
Except where law or an express licence permits, do not extract or reutilise a substantial part of a protected database, or repeatedly and systematically extract small parts in a manner that infringes database rights. No general permission is granted to reproduce protected content for commercial dataset compilation, machine-learning training or model distribution. This reservation is subject to applicable statutory exceptions and does not assert ownership of facts or prohibit lawful research, accessibility processing or ordinary search indexing. Access-control and service-integrity requirements also apply.
9. Names, logos and attribution
Gipsy Moth IV names, official logo artwork and other identifying signs may be protected by copyright, trade mark law or passing-off rules, as applicable. This notice does not assert that any mark is registered unless specifically identified as such. Do not use branding to imply sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement without permission. Any authorised logo use must follow the supplied brand conditions. Accurate descriptive reference to the yacht and lawful quotation remain subject to applicable law, not a blanket prohibition.
10. Moral rights and responsible presentation
Respect applicable rights of attribution and integrity. Do not remove required credits, falsely attribute authorship or distort a work in a way that infringes its creator’s rights. Any permitted alteration should be clearly identified where necessary to avoid misleading viewers. Our limited permission does not waive a third-party author’s moral rights, privacy rights or other personal rights.
11. Contributions and commissioned work
Contributors retain copyright unless a separate written agreement validly assigns it. Submission does not automatically transfer ownership to Gipsy Moth IV Ltd or GM4 Legend BV. The limited contribution licence in the Site Terms and Conditions applies only where accepted through an enabled submission process. Commissioned works, donated archives and licensed collections require their own documented rights arrangements. We can license only rights we hold or are authorised to administer.
12. Commercial licensing contact
GM4 Legend BV is the designated party for commercial business, including commercial rights and licensing enquiries: Vissershavenweg 55D, 2583 DL ’s-Gravenhage, Netherlands; KVK 88158128. A request to this company is an enquiry only. Any licence remains subject to confirmation of the rights holder’s authority and the written agreement naming the actual licensor. Permission from us or GM4 Legend BV cannot substitute for separate third-party permissions.
13. Reporting a rights concern
Write to Gipsy Moth IV Ltd at the correspondence address in clause 1. Identify the work and exact webpage or asset URL, explain the rights you hold or represent, describe the alleged infringement, provide supporting evidence and a reply address, and state the remedy requested. Do not send unnecessary sensitive documents. We will review substantiated reports and may temporarily restrict an item while investigating, correct its credit, seek permission or remove it where appropriate. Neither a temporary restriction nor a refusal to remove material determines ownership or legal liability. Please use good faith and do not make knowingly false claims.
14. Enforcement and applicable law
We reserve the right to seek remedies available under applicable law for infringement of rights we hold, including an injunction, damages or an account of profits where legally available. This notice does not impose automatic fines or predetermine a court’s decision. It is read with the Site Terms and Conditions, including their England and Wales governing-law clause and protections for mandatory consumer rights. Rights in other territories remain subject to applicable local law.
